Left lower lobe collapse
A further example shows left lower lobe consolidation and volume loss. Note the left heart border is still clearly visible, indicating the lingula is spared and the shadowing lies posteriorly (the silhouette sign again). The lateral film shows the partially collapsed lower lobe very clearly in this case.
