Case 56

Calcified breast implant

Chest film in asymptomatic female

Findings

There are large round densities overlying both lower lung zones. The one on the left is of soft tissue density, while that on the right demonstrates rim calcification. These are bilateral prosthetic breast implants. The calcification may be as a result of leakage of the implant's contents. In cases of doubt, a simple inquiry to the patient should make the lateral projection unnecessary.

A: PA CXR - 20kb

Calcified Right Breast Implant
